Spotlight Community Theatre is a registered 501c3 non-profit theatre company striving to provide quality education and entertainment to our community. Our intent is to provide an inclusive environment for our students to freely express themselves and grow as theatre artisans. We aim to enrich the lives of the students by expanding their knowledge of theatrical principles, equipping them with the confidence to expand their horizons, creating an environment that is inclusive, and providing a sense of community. We are fully committed to serving our community and providing educational opportunities for our students.
Located in the heart of downtown Mint Hill, Spotlight resides in one of Mint Hill’s oldest buildings. Spotlight Performing Arts Academy opened in July of 2012 with the intent to provide performing arts educational opportunities to the Mint Hill community and surrounding areas.
Our first production in 2012 was none other than Joseph Robinette's musical adaptation of E.B. White's Charlotte's Web. Since then we have produced over thirty musicals. Some of our favorites are Carousel, Wedding Singer, Elf Jr., and Shrek. In December 2021 we decided to challenge ourselves and produced our very first play -- Best Christmas Pageant Ever. It was well received and we hope to produce more plays in the future.
In 2022, the Spotlight Performing Arts theatrical department applied to become a non-profit organization. With much success, our theatrical department is now
Spotlight Community Theatre Co. We hope that this new endeavor will allow us to not only continue providing arts education to the community, but to also open the doors to student scholarships and continue to enrich the lives of our students.
