Angela is the owner of Spotlight Performing Arts Academy. She primarily teaches voice and piano but also teaches a variety of other instruments such as violin, ukulele and guitar. Angela has received her Masters degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, a BA in Vocal Performance and Arts Management from Newberry College and a Masters Certification in Songwriting and Music Business from Berklee College of Music. In addition to operating Spotlight, Angela has taught Chorus, Music Appreciation and Theatre at the high school and elementary level.

Gary Ward has been teaching lessons at Spotlight since 2013 and teaching lessons for over a decade around the Charlotte area. He covers many genres of Music and levels of Guitar from beginner to advanced covering all aspects of Music Theory and Guitar Techniques. In 2003 he attended Berklee College of music summer guitar program after that He studied Music at Pfeiffer University before beginning his teaching career. Since then he spends his time performing gigs and sharing his passion of Guitar and Music with his students. His approach is always tailored to a students goals and inspiration for playing Guitar to get the most out of their lessons so they can continue playing Music for a lifetime and most importantly enjoy the process of learning & growing as a Musician.

Miah Bay, is 19 years old and has been acting for 7-8 years. She has done many shows and classes and has gone to New York to pursue theater further in an intensive program. Her dream is to someday be on Broadway. Miah will be attending UNC Greensboro in the fall.

Asha is a teacher with a passion for the creative and performing arts. With two years of experience as an elementary school teacher and a total of five years in the field of education, Asha brings creativity and enthusiasm to the classroom. Holding a BFA in Film and Media Arts with a concentration in directing, Asha has also made significant strides in the world of filmmaking. Her directorial projects have not only debuted at festivals but have also found homes on streaming platforms like Amazon Prime.However, theater has always been Asha’s first love. Her most recent theatrical endeavor was her portrayal of Leanne in the Harry Potter-inspired play, PUFFS.

Jenna Hunter is a Charlotte native. She found her love of the theater in high school, where she enjoyed both performing and technical design. Jenna Hunter is a Charlotte native. She found her love of the theater in high school, where she enjoyed both performing and technical design. She went on to earn a BFA from University of North Carolina School of the Arts’ Design and Production program, with a major in Wig and Makeup Artistry. Over the years, Jenna has worked with Opera Carolina, CPCC, Children’s Theater, as well as designing the special effects makeup on the independent horror film “Nobody Loves Alice”. These days she enjoys creating art from a variety of mediums, favorites including: acrylic paints and watercolor pencil.
